W’Cup: 60 experts to review Ghana’s poor performance

Ghana’s Sports Ministry said it has invited 60 eminent football administrators for a retreat to review the country’s football administration.

The Minister of Youth and Sports, Mahama Ayariga, said in a statement on Friday in Accra.
“The two-day retreat, scheduled for Friday and Saturday, is expected to carve out a new national football strategy for the country,” Ayariga said.

He said it was being held by the Ministry of Youth and Sports in collaboration with the Ghana Football Association.

He said, ‘The group is made up of personalities with vast experiences in both the field of play and football management and administration in Ghana and abroad.
“The eminent personalities will generally reflect on developments in the performance of the country in competitive football and offer advice in fashioning out a national response strategy.

“This is the first of a series of meetings of eminent persons in the various disciplines of sports and personalities involved in youth development programs to help drive the sector.”
According to the statement, the retreat comes a few days after Ghana’s disappointing first round exit from the ongoing 2014 FIFA World Cup in Brazil.

The Black Stars failed to make it past the first round after they picked up a point from their three group games played against the US, Germany and Portugal.
