Men of the Police Anti-Robbery Squad on Friday morning apprehended six bank robbers in Lagos Island.

The looters were arrested within the premises of a bank located on Broad Street, Lagos Island, armed with cutlasses, iron bars, iron saw and some cables.

A policeman who spoke with our correspndent said the arrest of the looters was facilitated by residents in the area who made a distress call to the police upon noticing the bandits.


He said, “Distress call was received from Ikeja control room that some armed robbers were operating at Savannah Bank, Broad Street. The policemen stormed the area and these boys were arrested.”

The six young looters observed to range between 18 and 20 years in age, were identified as Ibrahim Luka, Kunle Malik, Sheriff Lawal, Tunde Basiru, Arif Sarumi, Lukman Ojikutu and Fidelis Joshua

Some residents in the area who gathered at the crime scene said they identified the young men to be those who had been tormenting residents of the area for a very long time.

They commended the Commander, Area A Police Command, Lion Building, Mra. Mram Imohimi Edgal, for the quick response of the policemen and reduction of crime in the area.

The looters were taken to Area A Command for interrogation.
