Baby found alive in river 14 hours after car crash



An 18-month-old baby girl was found alive in a car more than 14 hours after the vehicle plunged into a river in Utah, USA. The girl was discovered hanging upside down above water in her car seat by a fisherman on Saturday afternoon, police told reporters. The child's mother 25yr old Lynn Groesbeck was found dead in the driver's seat. And some people don't believe that God exists!

Fire breaks out in studio area of AIT in Lagos Nigeria.


Fire broke out this morning in the studio area at the Africa Independent Television, AIT, in Alagbado, Lagos. The cause of fire is not yet known but it has been put out by the fire service and members of staff of the TV station. Damage to the property is currently being assessed. No casualties or injuries recorded.

About 2887 Members Of PDP, SDP, Decamp To APC In Ogun



A total number of 1,237 members of the Abe-Igi Babaloke group in Idiroko ward, Ipokia local government council of Ogun state on Saturday defected to the ruling All Progressive Congress (APC) in the state. The decampees led by their leader, Mr Abdul Rasak Isa were received by the state governor, Ibikunle Amosun during his re-election campaign at Ipokia. Their leader, Mr Abdul said they were tired of PDP and its governorship aspirant in the state, and even though they have been with him since 2003, they are ready to leave and join the moving train.

Boko Haram Attacks Village In Chad



Boko Haram fighters attacked a village in Chad on Friday, the first known lethal attack in that country by the militant group, which killed several people including a local chief according to residents and security forces.

Dozens of militants arrived by motorised canoe at the fishing village on the shores of Lake Chad early in the morning, setting houses ablaze and attacking a police station.

“They came on board three pirogues and succeeded in killing about ten people before being pushed back by the army,” said a resident of the village of Ngouboua, about 20 km (12 miles) east of the Nigerian border.

According to a report on Premium Times, the newly posted Assistant Inspector General of Police, Zone 2, Joseph Mbu has threatened to take the lives of 20 people if any of his men are killed unjustly during the elections. AIG Mbu made the threat at a meeting with the Ogun State Command at its Eleweran Headquarters, Abeokuta.

US To Withdraw Ebola Fighters


The Pentagon in the US are preparing the US military to withdraw all but 100 of the 2,800 troops it currently has deployed to West Africa in response to the Ebola epidemic, Aljazeera reports.

In a statement on Tuesday, spokesman Rear Admiral John Kirby said “nearly all will return by April 30″.

US officials said Washington was ready to scale back its five-month mission in Liberia and Senegal in the coming weeks, as officials believed the crisis had largely been contained.
