Meet the new General Secretary of the Nigeria Labour Congress

The Nigeria Labour Congress, NLC, on Friday announced Peter Ozo-Eson as the new General Secretary.

Until his appointment, He was the Chief Economist and Head of Research Department of the Congress.

Mr. Ozo-Eson’s appointment as substantive General Secretary of the Congress was announced in a communiqué at the end of NLC’s National Executive Council, NEC, meeting in Enugu.

Police To Enforce Law Against Smoking In Public Places

As the ban on public smoking yesterday became effective, Lagos State Police Command weekend said it had put everything in place to enforce ban on public smoking in the state.


To ensure effective enforcement, the command in collaboration with British America Tobacco, BAT, organised a one-day sensitisation programme for senior police officers across the state, aimed at helping officers to understand how to enforce the new law.

Delivering a paper on Understanding the Lagos State Regulation of Smoking Law, at the event held at the Police Officers’ Wives Association, POWA, Ikeja, a legal practitioner, Mr. Obafemi Agaba, emphasised the key provisions of the law and penalties for offenders.

A dissolvable tampon could soon offer women faster protection against HIV, scientists say.

Those deemed to be at high risk of contracting HIV in the U.S. are currently prescribed daily drugs, taken orally, to protect against the virus.
