The Delta State section of the Peoples Democratic Party has discredited a claim that the triumph of the President-elect, Muhammadu Buhari, is debilitating its risks in the approaching governorship election. As reported by punch newspaper,
he PDP has been holding meetings and re-strategising since it lost the presidential election, seeking to position itself to claim more than half of the votes in the state during Saturday’s governorship election.
Shortly after the result of the presidential election was announced, Governor Emmanuel Uduaghan gathered the PDP leaders in the state to rework their plans ahead of governorship election.
Also, the Publicity Secretary of Delta PDP, Macaulay Debghan, told our correspondent that the PDP will win the governorship election in spite of the outcome of the presidential election.
Debghan said the fact that the PDP got over 1.2 million votes in Delta State was a sign that it remains the most popular party in the state.
He said, “That the APC won the presidential election does not mean they can win in Delta State. We will still win the governorship election with a wide margin.”
