A female student of Bowen University Iwo, Osun State, Olise Tamuno, last week emerged the overall best graduating student, earning a first class degree with 4.93 CGPA.
About 1,018 students received their first degree awards as the institution held its 9th convocation ceremony last week.
But Tamuno and fifty-five (55) other graduating students drawn from various departments were specially honoured for their outstanding academic performances, Tribune reports.
Star of the day, Tamuno who studied Economics at the institution, said it was through divine intervention that she achieved her feat.
“No success is attainable without God.
“Initially, learning was very difficult for me because I could not concentrate, as my mind would always wander," she said.
"After much efforts and prayers, I was able to regain my concentration and assimilation skills. It was a serious battle which the Lord allowed me to overcome.
The first class graduate advised other students to pursue their studies with all diligence.
"There is a lot of work to do to retain your studentship and justify your mission in academic race to achieve excellence. A wise student will build his or her CGPA from 100 Level."
Student Pulse gathered that Tamuno was given a new laptop and other gifts in recognition of her achievement as the overall best graduating student for the 2014 class.
