Last week, President Goodluck Jonathan attended the screening of ‘Being Mrs. Elliot’, a movie produced by sultry actress, Omoni Oboli, at the Aso Rock Villa. Jonathan has never hidden his belief in Nollywood as a major contributor to the nation’s economy. His support for the Nigerian movie industry culminated in the $200 million Nollywood intervention fund.
But rather disappointedly, no sooner was the screening, which also had Vice President Namadi Sambo and PDP National Chairman, Adamu Mu’azu in attendance came to an end, that Nollywood fans went into arguments about the dress the actress wore to the event. From the hundreds of comments on blogs and social media, the blue dress the actress worn to the premiere had divided the fans with a few sitting on the fence. For some, the dress was flat-out inappropriate while for others, the actress was gorgeously dressed for the occasion, as movie premieres are glamorous gatherings where sloppy dressing is an unpardonable sin.
